Not all our car tests go to plan after we praised the Road holding, handling and performance of the Impreza, our chief test pilot took it upon himself to prove us wrong.

Here are the sobering pictures of the result.

If anyone is in any doubt as to the effectiveness of crumple zones and Airbags, then take a look at the pictures and marvel at how the driver walked away with only a headache for his efforts.

Road Testers Comments

The Impreza is totally over-rated the engine couldn't pull the skin off a Rice Pudding and hasn't got enough power to trouble the chassis.

The Four wheel drive system is useless and exhibits no grip what so ever when flying 10 feet off the ground.

The Brakes and ABS are complete rubbish, being unable to stop the car as it slid on its roof through a field.

The Interior is somewhat compact and lacking in head room and boot space.

Air bags are a complete waste of time, this one threatened to suffocate me after only a minor shunt.
