Child Locks

Child locks are fitted to almost all modern cars on the rear doors.

The function of the child lock mechanism it to prevent the rear door from being opened from inside the car.

This is achieved by moving a simple switch in the lock mechanism itself, And it can be done in seconds.

Child lock off with swith up Child lock on with swith down

The only bad point to child locks is, If you are a competent person trying to get out of the car and you are unable because you forget to change the lock setting. you can roll down the window and open the door from the outside if desperate.

An excellent standard fitted safety feature, Particularly for young children who insist on pulling the door levers from inside whilst in motion, And being centrifugally forced onto the door round a bend at high speed. Excellent driver reassurance in knowing you little one is safe with such a simple and effective device.

The child locks themselves are pretty maintenance free just requiring the odd lubrication.
