Electric Mirrors

When early exterior mirrors were fitted to cars they were fitted to the front wings adjustment was made by trial and error, How things have changed in the car world.

Later cars had mirrors fitted to the doors unfortunately on some makes they corroded around the fitting and eventually fell off.

Modern cars have mirrors now fitted to the door frame rather than the door skin, making them less likely to fall off.

Mirrors then became luxuriously adjustable from inside the car by means of cables or solid links for driver convenience.

Then came the electric adjusting mirror.

What a luxury ability to adjust your external mirrors by means of an electric switch.

Some modern cars even have mirrors which automatically adjust downwards when in reverse however. Personally I find this irritating, I don't want to see the kerb when going backwards.

Some makers used both manually adjustable mirrors and electrically adjustable mirrors.

The Mercedes Benz 190 comes to mind for this.
