How exclusive a means of transport with leather seat facings. Not desired by all but very influential in the price of cars. It simply oozes class and style well mostly and only if you are not a vegan.
Leather trim originally was very common in the manufacturer of the
motor car. But the tanneries were surpassed. By machines which could make
seat coverings at a fraction of the cost.
The expensive time consuming leather trim became less popular and it has been
mostly replaced by seat fabrics which are currently glued to the man made seat
cushions.
Current cars with leather trim tend to be high class, sports or limited
editions. The types of leather used vary from soft hide to hard wearing, they
can even be suede or even a mix of both.
Often with leather trim there is also a leather coated steering wheel and gear
knob. some makers even add the leather to the door trimmings for that extra
class and style.
The down side to leather trim is once marked it is expensive to repair, and it can be extreme in temperature to sit on in winter it is cold very cold, and summer if left in the sun the leather seat trim can become unbearably hot.
