I have just bought a Capri 2.8i, and decided at the tender age of 28 to become a boy racer..

I love it... four wheel slides pulling on to roundabouts in 1st....Laying down rubber coming off roundabouts in 2nd... fish-tailing
away from work..... watching the petrol gauge fall through the floor as your pulling away from some knob in an XR3... What more
could you ask for...

My mates are in 2 minds.. either wondering why or drooling....

The ones that are drooling are my age... the others are only 23 or so...

Is that right about hardly ever needing a service? that would help out on the fuel bill...

Thanks for the article.... Brilliant....

Dear all,

Don't know how your car specs work, but I disagree with the Ford Capri 280 specs & have therefore submitted my own version. The major bone of contention is the BHP - it's not 160 (widely publicised by Ford at the launch) but is in fact only 150. Don't want to put my own car down but there you have it.   Also the 0-60 is in fact 7.9 and not 8.2 as in your current spec sheet. My info comes from 10 years of owning capri's and reading everything from every source about them. The above facts I am sure of.   Regards,   Simon Hancock. (280 owner).

Hi Ukcar,

I have just down loaded my e-mails from yesterday to find a letter from a fellow member of a caravan/camping internet group had mentioned your web site.

On visiting the site it looked most impressive and I am sure that it will soon
have a good range of cars and information to be viewed.
I own a rare Aston Martin Tickford Capri which I am selling, I immediately
visited the Ford Capri section on your site to find no mention of this car, I
found this strange as one of the photos in this section (interior shot with full
wood fascia dashboard and centre consul) appears to be a Tickford.
I then visited the advertise your car for FREE section and on clicking through
your wizard found that the Tickford was not amongst the models listed therefore
I had to terminate.
I have clicked the 'To add car specifications' and entered as much information
that I had to hand, there is a web site for the Tickford Register the address is

www.btinternet.com/~aff/TickfordRegister/

I have also included a photo of my car should you wish to use a photo of a
genuine Tickford on your site.
Regards
Mick & Pat.

Cheers in advance?

PS....Has anyone ever seen a convertible custom job on a Capri?......I'm thinking of it......Good idea or not?

You obviously thrash the hell out of your 2.8 special!  My 2.8 Capri will do 38+ mpg on along journey and even if driven hard will return 25 mpg.  These cars have a habit of going out of tune, take it to your ford dealer every 6 month for a quick tune (if you can afford a rolling road tune even better). With new plugs, leads and a K & N you should get better economy and more speed, its also worth changing the fuel filter (available through Burton power) if you've still got the original. The only problem with them is in traffic, the clutch is quite heavy and the long first and second gears (you can do 30 mph in 1st and 75 mph in 2nd) make it hard to control the speed.  80 mph should be at about 2900 revs and 100 mph at 3500 revs, this makes it an excellent motorway and A roads car.  Its on the B roads that these come alive and are the fastest and most fun car for the money on the road.  The 2.8 Capri is the car you always promised yourself.
