Hi... My opinion,
Ford is paying your mistake until today, for to kill to Taunus
and
Cortina. Never was the same with the
European medium car... And with the Escort, I suppose, will be
the same. The Focus is Ok, but for a new market, never
like an Escort soon, In Argentina was the same thing. Ford killed at Ford Falcon, and
never was the same here. But!! in Australia it was different. The
Falcon is alive and it
is a bestseller!!
I have a Argentinean Taunus (See month's car in www.clubtaunus.com)

I have to
say this is one of the most useless reviews I have ever read, the
only thing I agree with on this is the speed element - it is no
pocket rocket, but having said that it is no slouch. The 11.5
second 0-60mph figures are wrong, it can do it in just over 10
seconds. The refinement is excellent, as is the handling. Seats
are comfortable, mid-range grunt being slightly disappointing, but
nevertheless, nothing to pick faults with.
When compared to the Astra, it beats it in every way, other than
speed. Looks are fantastic, unlike the basic, non-inspiring Astra.
The Peugeot 306 does beat it, admittedly, but it is still an
excellent car.

The Focus Engine is completely different and is the same as the fiesta ZETEC SE in 1.4 & 1.6 models, only the earlier Mondeos and the Fiesta SI, RS and 16 valve XR2s had this engine. The engine has a lot of tuning potential if needed and a K & N filter and decent exhaust would free up about 10 bhp after a quick tune. The escort lost the plot once it went front wheel drive, although always better then any Vauxhall and generally better than most Peugeots (certainly less rattles!), it never reach the heights and standards of the Mk 1 & 2 models.

I have just bought a new car... It's A ford Escort, 1.8 Si, and
you have no pic so I'll send you one in. Is there anyway I can modify this
Escort as I do wish to
burn an XR2i off someday!
Looking at the Escort specs it's probably about the same as the Rover, it only has 200cc more or something like that. But you can modify Escort's can't you? I would like it to do 0-60 in 6 seconds and do at least 140MPH, is this possible or should I borrow my Dads 4.0 V8 S-Type Jag?
He does 0-60 in about 5 seconds and does 160MPH.
