UK CAR Readers Comments: Volkswagen Passat Turbo Diesel Saloon 1990 |
Doreen Bramley <Doreen.Bramley@btinternet.com>
I owned a 1994 Passat Turbo Diesel for about a year, and I have to say I hated everything about it. The interior was very saggy, dour, and miserable which made the driving experience down right depressing. It handled like a pig, lurching around corners with all the finesse of an oil tanker, oh and my number one bugbear was appalling wind noise at any speed over 25 mph.
I find it very strange that so many people say what fabulous switchgear and build quality VW's have, because I found the switches plasticky and the trim quite rattley.
The engine was sluggish, noisy and thoroughly unpleasant, in fact I can't think of any redeeming features about this car, other than I guess it might be ok as workhorse, other than that I can only describe it as a complete pile of pap.
The one thing I did enjoy however was the moment I traded it in for a Toyota...what a revelation that was.
