Got to be the best description of your review on the BX TZD. Still on the
positive side...... it helps to keep the price down for those
of us that are not so narrow minded.
FYI - they don't make a 1.9TZD...... its a BX 1.7 TZD which has a 1.8 engine. The
interior is out the GTi... Velour
The gearbox - whilst not their strong suit, can be "one finger
changed" without the use of the clutch on every model I've driven. You're
right , it requires patience. But is it not better to use the rush of the
engine than a panic approach at the wheel. As for the brute force.....
that probably described the driver better! Loadlugger or granny transport, the
handling is probably the best in its class. Full or empty it is solid and
,indeed , if I'm not mistaken was highly acclaimed in most motoring reviews at
the time and award winning.
Bah ... that's enough, I could go on but why should I empty my head to fill
yours ?
Keep up the bad work......... It keeps you out of the way

Well, we are all entitled to an opinion Mr. Clark and it seems
to me you have misunderstood the original points that I made. The car has many
foibles that just weren't suited to this particular driver, however I'm sure the
Caravan Club of the UK will continue to enjoy the car as much as you.
More from ED:
We've checked and there appears to have been a mix up with a 1.9 diesel test which has got its self lost we apologize profusely for calling the 1.7 a 1.9, the rest of the road test stand though, I've now driven three of these things and they were all without exception crap!. All had the same problems, which is probably why the previous owners were trading them for Xantia's.
It would be nice to try a good BX because I'm sure there is a good car lurking under there some where, but as yet I've not found one.
Hello there I've got a Citroen bx tzd , 90 horsepower, st, car. And I am very happy - especially for the price but not only that. The car is from 1991 and there are not something like rust in the body, okay there is some small defects, but tell me which car has not after 10 years on the road - and 18 km on one litre diesel
So so so so fantastic and cheap - I tell you all in all it is a very good investment my price in Denmark was 4.700 £
Yes I am happy

After reading your comments to Robert Clark. If you are going to say
that
the BX is Crap and it is as compared to a modern car, lets remember that
this car was competing with the Ford Cortina back in the early 1980's.
So
let's compare the road handling of the BX to the Cortina/Sierra.... How many
of these rear wheel drive cars corner better? I have driven all three
over
distances and I know which one my money is on for comfort and
reliability.... and it isn't Ford.
John
Well clearly not to your taste and that's fair enough. Its light
because the bonnet, roof, rear hatch door and rear quater panles are a
specialist plastic.
Personally they are excellent and and have devoted non caravan following
too.
The BX Homepage had a lady enquiring whether her gearbox could possibly be duff
after 500,000 miles (same engine).
