TOYOTA CARINA E 2.0 Readers Comments

Toyota Carina E 2.0

I have owned a Carina 2.0 GLI since November last year and I disagree with your comments. Handsome is as handsome does. The handling is beautiful, don't forget this car was a rally championship winner. I find the car quick, reliable, economical for a two litre, and I feel your views our rather harsh. after all there is enough of them on our roads

I disagree with some of your comments I own a 1993 Xi 1.6 and frankly the car is not that bad it may be a bit boring but it is economical ultra reliable and sometimes fun to drive. you adapt to this so called vague steering and I have no problem with turn in ask my missus she always says there is g forces in the bends, but can be a bit nervous on uneven roads. Not inspiring but its not pretending to be a Mercedes or Ferrari. I would rather have one of those then a Vauxhall.

Yeah, you are right with your comment about the Toyota Carina E. Carinas are known as Corona Exsior here in the Phlippines, but I can't believe that it is mostly taxis there in UK.

The Carinas or Coronas here in the Philippines are a limited, special, luxury car of Toyota.

It cost a million peso here. hats why it is only for rich and company executives car.

Well, that's what I can say. Thanks.

There is no hello for you!!!

I have to say, I honestly don't believe, you ever drove the Carina E. We bought this car in 1993, and 2 years ago my father passed it on to me. I must say, as a young, dynamic driver, I'm very pleased with the car altogether. First of all, the looks of the car isn't bad, actually, most of the people think, its very nice.

Because now it is the year 2002, I can see, it truly is a beautiful car - I can hardly think of an any other car from the beginning of the nineties, that would optically fold in between today's cars, as the Carina E. You are complaining about the small wheels - well, in '92, those wheels were standard, If you dislike them, you can mount BIG alloy wheels anytime.

You are talking about Carina E being a family car as something bad - this car was built to be a family car - for a young, dynamic family - with lots of space, a nice form and a powerful enough engine - and that's exactly, what it is. And now the engine - did you even look at the specs???, this car accelerates from 0 to 100 KM/h in 9 seconds flat. What other FAMILY 2.0 car can manage that. The answer is: almost none! How on earth can you talk about the engine like you did, if you are talking about the car, that has the best acceleration in its class??? Maybe, because you compared it to a sports car - well, don't. Then the handling - Carina E has a fine handling - again, don't compare it to a Ferrari, but with other cars in it's class: like Mondeo, Passat, Primera etc. and now tell me, which of these cars can accelerate harder than the Carina, or has a better handling - none of them (believe me, I drove them).

My fingers hurt from the writing, so I'll stop now, just this:

The Toyota Carina E is a visually very attractive family car, with very good handling, superb acceleration, good top speed, outstanding low fuel consumption (this is a fact, not a guess), and a totaly superb durability (this you can check with the German ADAC, which is collecting data on all cars - and the Carina was proven to be the most durable amongst all 5 and 10 year old cars).

And a word to the "author" of the road test: I think it is very idiotic, to spit on a car without any real reason. When I read you "article" I felt, as if my car should break up the next time, I'll drive it... It is not fair to do this to a car, that is all but bad. No journalist, or human, should do that - you've just proven, that you dislike Japanese cars, especially Toyota, and you've chosen a very primitive way to show that. I really think, you are a MORON!

Without respect

P.S. Sorry for my English, but I'm from Slovenia.
