Hi there my name is Muhammed and I'm 22 yrs old and I live in Edinburgh
(Scotland).
The reason why I am writing to you is because I was looking through the website
for the vectra 1.7 LS TD. I just wanted to say that I own a Vectra 1.7. Its a
1996 N Reg with 113,450 miles on the clock and I
tell you the car runs as sweet as it drives.
I do a lot of motorway mileage roughly about nearly 450 miles a week and my
Vectra has never let me down apart of a few minor faults. A lot of people may
think the the Vectra is a boring, non-entertaining car but I would like to prove
a point that they are wrong. I Bought the Vectra
from a small garage in Motherwell (near Glasgow) in august 1999. The
mileage was about 80,000 (estimated). Since then I have had the car serviced
about 5 times from that date because with a diesel you have to service the car
about every 8 - 9,000 miles.
I have had nothing wrong with the car due to the fact that it was a reps car
before I bought it and the car was badly looked after. So I decided to fix the
car and keep it. I have had the Mot done on the car recently because it had
failed due to a few minor faults such as: Headlight beams, Handbrakes, Cracked
windscreen, etc...
Apart from this there is nothing else wrong with the car apart from the
usual wear & tear sort of things which every car goes through. The car maybe
a bit sluggish in the city centre but in the motorway it seems like
you are driving an unleaded car because the car has a very good pickup speed
when the turbo kicks in and I can easily cruise about 60-100 mph
without hassle of the car shaking or steering going under light.
So far recently I have had the car modified such as I have put a bodykit on the
car with ,black tinted windows, 17 inch alloys, 1 wiper conversion, mesh grill,
headlight eye brows, twin exhaust etc.. the car now looks the mean machine on
the roads of Edinburgh because there is no other Vectra like it.
So I would just like to say if I were to buy another Vectra would I buy one??
The answer is YES! because I think its a very reliable car and plus I can now
pull a lot of birds on a Friday night because my car is just the
ultimate! (ANY BIRD INTERESTED?) EMAIL ME ON ******@aol.com
Editors Comments - Interesting comments, however after my experience I'm sticking to my original view on the car. And this car is definitely not a car to be pulling birds in, no matter how many customisations you stick on it.

I drive a mid 1999 Vectra 2.0 Di 16v. It is a company vehicle
and now has
around 75000 miles on it. Other than a few teething problems, I like
the
car, finding it smooth and comfortable, on long journeys , often covering
300 to 400 mile in a day over very poor roads. I also find that the fuel
economy is unbeatable often getting upwards of 50mpg. In short the Vectra
may be a little dull but it does not deserve the slating it has got in the
past.
P.S who else thinks that the new Vectra looks trick?

I own a White Vectra 1.7td P reg with blue tints, 17" alloys, mesh grill, 2 spoilers and 166532 miles on the clock. I've had a few probs (nothing major, touch wood!) but thats to be expected with the miles! just wear and tear. My g/friend says how do people know what blue tints r?, it my windows, they r tinted blue. I am currently looking for a 2.5 V6, i am waiting with cash (i'm from Paisley area), any condition although must have good engine, damage boby ok. Love Vectras. Mine still runs great and will hopefully run for along time yet.
